MIFF 2026 Awards Shine a Light on Human Creativity Behind Furniture Innovation

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia — March 2026

Inside the vibrant halls of the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), the atmosphere at Malaysian International Furniture Fair (MIFF) 2026 was filled with excitement, pride, and creativity as designers, manufacturers, and entrepreneurs gathered to celebrate the people shaping the future of furniture.

The MIFF 2026 Awards were not merely about recognising products. They honoured the stories, passion, and imagination behind furniture pieces that transform everyday spaces into places of comfort, creativity, and connection.

As buyers, industry leaders, and visitors walked through the exhibition halls, each design represented months—or sometimes years—of dedication from designers who believe furniture should be both functional and inspiring.

A Platform Where Young Ideas Take Centre Stage

One of the highlights of the event was the Furniture Design Competition (FDC), a platform that encourages young designers to bring bold and imaginative ideas to life.

This year’s competition revolved around a playful yet meaningful theme:

“Playful. Practical. Purposeful – Furniture for Generation Alpha.”

Participants were challenged to design bedroom furniture for children aged five to nine, balancing creativity with safety, practicality, and adaptability for modern homes.

The competition celebrated the brilliance of emerging designers:

  • Jessica Antonius from Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation captured First Prize with her design “ROEL,” winning RM5,000 for her innovative concept.
  • Doo Jade Qi from the Malaysian Institute of Art secured Second Prize for the creative design “GLORB.”
  • Teh Jian Yin from The One Academy Penang earned Third Prize for “REKA REKA Series.”
  • Prathiin Saravanamuthu from Universiti Sains Malaysia received a Special Mention for “STACKABLOCK.”

These young designers demonstrated that the next generation of creators is ready to rethink furniture with imagination, flexibility, and sustainability in mind.

Recognising Excellence in Furniture Manufacturing

Beyond emerging talent, MIFF also celebrated established manufacturers through the Furniture Excellence Awards (FEA), which honour companies producing exceptional designs that combine craftsmanship, durability, and innovation.

Among the standout winners were:

  • Eastern Decorator Sdn Bhd – Platinum Award
  • Luxury Sleep Products Sdn Bhd – Gold Award
  • Instyle Sofa Sdn Bhd – Silver Award

These companies exemplify the strength of Malaysia’s furniture manufacturing sector and its growing influence in the global furniture market.

Their winning products showcased how furniture today must balance aesthetics, ergonomics, and sustainable production to meet the expectations of modern consumers.

Booth Designs That Tell a Story

While furniture itself remained the star of the show, the exhibition floor also became a stage for creativity through the Best Presentation Award (BPA).

This category celebrated exhibitors who transformed their booths into immersive experiences that captured visitors’ attention.

The winners included:

  • Chuanheng Furniture Products Sdn Bhd – First Place
  • Foshan Linsy Home Co., Ltd – Second Place
  • Zhin Sheng Furniture Sdn Bhd – Third Place

Meanwhile, ELK-Desa Furniture Products Sdn Bhd received the Informa Better Stands Award, recognising environmentally responsible booth construction and sustainable exhibition practices.

These presentations proved that the furniture industry is not only about manufacturing—but also about storytelling, design communication, and brand identity.

MIFF: Connecting the World Through Furniture

Now in its 32nd edition, the Malaysian International Furniture Fair has become one of the most important furniture trade platforms in Asia.

The 2026 edition brought together:

  • Nearly 700 exhibitors
  • Around 20,000 international buyers
  • Visitors from over 140 countries
  • More than 100,000 square metres of exhibition space

For manufacturers, designers, retailers, and buyers, MIFF is more than a trade show—it is a meeting point where ideas turn into collaborations and innovations shape the future of living spaces.

Furniture as a Reflection of Human Creativity

As MIFF 2026 concluded, one message echoed across the exhibition halls: furniture is no longer just about tables, sofas, or cabinets.

It represents how people live, work, and express their identities through the spaces they create.

Behind every piece of furniture lies a designer’s imagination, a craftsman’s skill, and a vision of making everyday life more comfortable and meaningful.

And events like MIFF ensure that these human stories continue to inspire the global furniture industry.
