Malaga Hotel Chain Hosts Solidarity Market to Sell Furniture and Support Local Charities
By The Furniture Times – Global Lifestyle & Sustainability Desk
AXARQUÍA, Spain — A creative blend of renovation, sustainability and social commitment is unfolding in the Malaga province, as the boutique hotel chain B bou Iconic Hotels opens a solidarity market to sell furniture from its hotels with all proceeds going to local charities. The initiative aligns refurbishment efforts with community support, reflecting a fresh approach to hospitality and corporate social responsibility.
From 24 February to 3 March 2026, visitors can browse around 700 pieces of furniture and décor — including headboards, chairs, bedside tables, armchairs, mirrors and curtains — formerly part of the furnishings of La Viñuela and Cortijo Bravo boutique hotels in the Axarquía region.
Renovation Meets Social Impact
Founders María and Andrés Herrero are undertaking a €1.5 million makeover of both hotels and a beach club. Rather than discarding existing furnishings, they decided to give these items a second life while supporting local causes. All the market’s profits will be donated to two charities working in the community:
- Amirax, which supports people with disabilities and developmental disorders
- Asociación Esperanza, which aids people affected by cancer and their families
“This initiative allows us to unite renovation, sustainability and social commitment in the same action,” the founders explained, adding that they hope the pieces sold will go on to “form part of new stories.”
Market Concept: “New Spaces for Living”
The solidarity market, held under the theme “New spaces for living,” invites locals and visitors alike to shop sustainably and contribute to meaningful causes. The Axarquía Room in B bou Iconic Hotel La Viñuela will be open daily from 11 am to 7 pm throughout the market period.
This initiative not only showcases beautiful design pieces but also highlights a more conscious model of hospitality — one that embraces reuse, shared value, and community care. “This renovation is also conceived as an opportunity to promote a sustainable initiative with a social impact,” the hotel founders said.
